I will be away from Hometown Radio on Monday, off to LA to see Mom and help her turn 95. Looking forward to the celebration. Annie Lorenzen and Mark Wilson will guest host, with Annie taking on the second half of the show with a rather controversial guest from Chicago discussing abortion. I suspect the phones will be ringing. I’ll be back on Tuesday and hope to have Devina Douglas, the whistleblower on the South County Sanitation District mess as my special guest.
Meanwhile, congrats and thank you to Judy Salamacha who hosted an incredible Writers’ Conference at Cuesta College over the weekend. Kudos to everyone involved and I hope that Cuesta continues to support the only writers’ conference on the Central Coast.
Thanks to Bill Denneen for recognizing Hometown Radio with his most recent “Denneen Envrionmental Award” in recognition of all the coverage we’ve given to local environmental issues on the show. Bill is one-of-a-kind and I appreciate deeply his recognition of our work.

The Dave Congalton Show 
I think Hometown Radio is the best and most informative locally. Congratulations on the award. Many of us look up to Bill Denneen and the wisdom he has attained over the years. He is always willing to share that wisdom with the young and not so young. He is a natural born leader because he leads by example and he walks the talk.
Marilyn, consider asking Bill Denneen about his strong anti-immigration attitude.
I was glad to hear I was not the only one disgusted by hearing local real estate salesman Jack Hardy serve as Satan’s right hand man, when he guested on Dave’s radio show yesterday and did his best to defile the reputation and teachings of Jesus Christ, suggesting to radio listeners that Jesus Christ would be in support of Capital Punishment.
Because Mr. Hardy frequently publicly touts himself as a reverent “Christian”, and often makes outrageous and exceedingly uncharitable and vengeful, frequently bigoted public statements that he claims are supported by the teachings of the Bible, Mr. Hardy misleads the public and defiles all of Christianity.
Proposing the idea that Jesus Christ would be leading a firing squad, giving a lethal injection, pulling the switch to electrocute someone, or in any other way participating in or condoning killing people as a form of punishment I find appalling and absurd and cannot find any statement attributed to Christ that supports that perverted view of the man so many millions of people, including those on death row, refer to as “Our Savior.”
Jack Hardy is frequent guest on the Dave Congalton Show and considering how misguided he is and how frequently he stridently and outrageously misrepresents the teachings of Jesus Christ, I believe he has gotten more than his fair share of air time.
If someone came on Dave’s show and continually misguided the public about anything other than Christianity, I’m pretty sure Dave would not have him return as a frequent guest. Why he grants so much time to Mr. Hardy and his blasphemous distortions of Christianity is something we can only guess at at this point, but I certainly hope Dave would give some thought to this. Maybe Dave actually believes what Mr. Hardy “preaches” or is simply too ignorant about Christianity to realize what kind of crap he’s allowing on his show.
God help us!
Mr. Hardy has the right to his opinion. He is one of my favorite guests and I think he makes a good guest host. We welcome all points of view on my show — not just the ones you agree with.
Sorry, Dave. We’re just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I stand by my statements above about Jack Hardy. As a guest host he absolutely sucks, continually making outlandish, mean-spirited and blatantly false statements, cutting off callers when they make comments that show him to be the fool he is.
Sure, there are other malicious, arrogant fools who share some of Mr. Hardy’s opinions, but that’s a lame excuse for making him a frequent guest host. I’m sure we don’t know the whole story as to why you would subject our community to his B.S..
The amount of misinformation Mr. Hardy spews on KVEC is shameful and its a mark against Congalton that he would allow it so frequently.
So, Dave, why don’t you explain exactly why Jack Hardy is one of your “favorite guests”? Please explain. What makes him such a favorite? Seriously. Otherwise, I don’t get it. He’s as bad as that Dan guy who used to come on and also spew so much complete crap with such an authoritative voice that belied how totally misguided he was, and how much completely erroneous information he presented to KVEC listeners.
I can’t see how anyone who cares about our community can justify this. Is is all about the money? Is it because Dave Congalton harbors an anti-Christian or anti-religious attitude that he savors when people come on his show supposedly representing Christian viewpoints and then goes on to totally shame Christianity and serve as a perfect example of what is wrong with organized religion.
There is SOMETHING going on here, and it’s not healthy. And Jack Hardy is clear evidence for that.
