Once more in to the breech

Welcome to the new home of the Dave Congalton KVEC blog! Mardi and I are glad to have you drop by and check out the new digs.

About a month ago, I announced that I was stopping the old blog after about four years. Blogger.com simply did not give me the control I needed over the content and access to the conversation. WordPress — which Karen and George use over at CalCoastNews — gives me everything we need.

I apologize for taking such drastic measures, but Mardi and I have talked things over and we’re ready to use the blog as more of a companion piece to the talk show. We’ll still continue to post topics on the critical issues of the day, but we also hope to use this as a resource for the show.

Thanks to El Dorado web master Greg Russo for his yeoman like effort in making the switch over for us.

I know it will take the rest of 2010 to get the blog back up to normal usage, but we’ve got local and state elections to cover and plenty of things to discuss as we march towards our 19th anniversary in January.

Stay tuned!

Focusing on more local issues on this forum is a wise move—and a courageous one. It’s easy to spout off about Washington, other nations, people we don’t know and never expect to meet. But to make wise commentary—and inspiration—to address issues that we literally can deal with face to face, eye-to-eye, that holds more promise of evolving our community upward and onward, healing what needs to be healed, growing what needs to be grown.

What we think we know of Washington and the world and the players who ham it up on the boob tube and all those other tubes, it’s an illusion, and not a very pretty one.

Local is beautiful. And may it ever be so.

Dave, this is the best yet! May this revision be all that it can and all that you may have hoped for. Onward! –G
