Obama didn't school anyone, especially the Republicans. All we heard from the president and his Democrat hatchetmen was the same old palavor and the same old sob stories. The Republicans provided a unified, coherent argument that a) the American people have rejected and continue to reject the democrat's version of health care reform, and b) Republicans have not been heard nor have they been even invited to be a part of crafting the boondoggle bills. Furthermore, if you actually watched the thing like I did, tort reform, malpractice reform and fraud, waste and abuse reforms, republican standards all, were said to be agreed upon by the Democrats as a means of being able to say that the Republicans and the Dems are "close to an agreement". Well that was a lie as born out by the fact that Obama, Pelosi and Reid immediately start talking about using hte "nuclear option" of reconciliation, a wholly and unholy unconstitutional act if they do it. Oh and did you see that Charlie Rangel is in hot water for his proven ethical violations for knowlingly taking corporate money in the form of carribean trips? He will certainly be forced out of his chairmanship of the Ways and Means committee. he may be forced out of the House altogether.Obama is hiding because he knows that his one-term White House of cards is coming down around his ears. Fact is that with all of the Democrat retirements and defeats, Obama will be a lame duck come November 2010.

Reconcilation, as used for ObamaCare, IS unconstitutional because a) it ain't anywhere in the Constitution and b) it is for fiscal issues ONLY. All of the extra-constitutional agencies and czars that are a part of the final bills. Even Senator Byrd says that using reconciliation to ram through ObamaCare is NOT what reconciliation was designed for. When Robert Byrd says that the Democrats are wrong, that should tell you something and give you pause.But no, Obama and crew are running aground full steam ahead. Why are you not bothered by this? Why are you not bothered that Nancy Pelosi said that Democrats should vote for ObamaCare and reconciliation even it means the end of their political careers? Shouldn't something as supposedly good for America and the American people be something that should gurantee re-election and not election defeat? Why would she say this unless she KNOWS that Obama's nationalization of healthcare is a Bad, Bad, Bad thing for America and she KNOWS that Democrats will lose their majorities in both houses. Tent: I must have struck a nerve, hey? Of course reconciliation isn't in the Constitution, because reconciliation is Senate rule, voted into existence in 1917. I guess that you think since it is not in the Constitution, it must be unConstitutional; by your apparent logic then, every single change in the rules governing how Congress works must be unConstitutional. Um, no, it doesn't work that way, no matter how much you stamp your feet and hold your breath. Since a change or two in how reconciliation works back in the seventies, reconciliation has been voted on many times by Republicans; just read the link. As for the whether or not the reconciliation process is being abused for the Healthcare Bill, read this from a former Senate parliamentarian. Read your links. First point: all were TAX reconciliation bills except for one which was welfare reform, which still deals with appropriated dollars. How is ObamaCare a TAX bill unless Obama wants TAXES to be levied, which he said he would not do. Second point: your article from the HuffPuffPo states a very ominous fact: Joe Biden can squelch debate, ram through the public option which Rachel Madcow last night said is now supported by 34 Democrat senator, all with just a 51 vote in the Senate. How is that good for America? Why, if Obama and the Democrats are on the moral high ground, do they need to use this trick? Obviously, the House and Senator are miles apart on this on everything from abortion language to funding from cadillac plans, medicare exemption for all states, etc etc. How is this good for Democrats where this debate lies? You can't answer this because you know, in your tiny heart of hearts, that it is BAD all the way around.Last question: are you a free thinking individual or just a sychophantic parrot? Right now you are just aprroting EVERYTHING any democrat says on the subject of health reform. Sad, but true.
Say good bye to Charlie Rangel as Ways and Means Chairman. He was forced out of that position due to his ethics violations. of course, tht doesn't keep him from doing his old job from behind the scenes but it does remove him as the faceman/spokesperson for Obama's desire to take more tax dollars from the American people.Oh, and did you see the Postmaster General basically declare the USPS insolvent? yep, as he announced his plan to end Saturday service, replace humans with autmated postal machines, cut benefits and close offices. What's sad is that the Post office, the census, and the military are the only three things that the Executive Branch is specifically mandated to do and this administration has screwed up the first two already.
Tent: You said you read the links, I believe you; did you notice the part about how reconciliation had always been about deficit reduction, not increasing the deficit, which the Bush Tax Cuts did, and that is why the Senate Parliamentarian ruled that they violated reconciliation rules and that is why they fired him. Did you read that? Did you recognize that the Republicans did what they wanted to, no matter what the rules were, so instead of following the rules, they simply removed the person who pointed out that they were "breaking" the rules? Don't you see how Republicans are the height of hypocrisy by now objecting to reconciliation? Of course you don't, because it is Republicans doing it, so in your world, that makes it okay. How about you, do you ever have any original thoughts, or are you just a right wing drone, a "ditto head", a soldier in the march of calling out those with whom your leaders to you to disagree with? Reconciliation deals with budgetary issues, specifically those that reduce spending and/or reduce the deficit, which the budget part of the Healthcare Bill does. But your marching orders mandate that you continue to repeat the lies that the proposed reconciliation is somehow dishonest, un-American and/or has never been done before, but those of us with our eyes open and able to recognize facts know that is not the "truth".
Why is it that Republicans continually, knowingly, and eagerly promote policies that lead to the unnecessary deaths of American citizens? Opposing decent healthcare reform is just one example of the Republican Party's deep-seated homicidal tendencies. Promoting the war in Iraq is another. Unwillingness to embrace environmental protection measures is another. The list goes on and on.Is it any wonder that the Republican Party has become known as the the Party of Satan?
Well Winston, for a grand I will be more than willing to sit down with you and have a chat. But, with preconditions. Prior to the sit down, you must brush up on on your subjects. It's great to say I am for this and I am for that, but, lay out specifics on how we are going to pay for existing programs and President Obama's planned programs. Know what bankruptcy of the US could do. Without the preconditions, I don't think the semi intelligent chat can take place.

How is giving every state ths same medicare indemnification as Nebraska going to lower costs? It can't because it is impossible. And you are saying that it is okay to pass through reconciliation because Bush and the Republicans passed the Bush Tax Cuts? How does two wrongs make a right? It don't. ObamaCare can't even prove that it reduces the deficit so your beloved parlimentarian is all wet with his arguments. I say "so what" to your argument because you obviously don't care about the fact that ObamaCare will utterly fail to reduce the deficit by one red cent. It will in fact balloon the deficit by $2.3 trillion. If Obama does get an up or down vote, the embarassment of having the one thing he has dedicated more energy to in his entire life, ObamaCare, get shot down in the one house of Congress that he has an insurmountable majority in. It could destroy his presidency in one House vote. But Bob the Obama Parrot is too busy drowning in Kool-aid to care.

His postings are also considerably more original and interesting than yours. One thing Mr. Obama is making clear to millions of voters is that future U.S. Presidents need to be considerably more progressive than Mr. Obama. But Mr. Obama is paving the way and it is certain he would be making more headway if it were not for the pervasive and deep-seated racism that fuels so much of his opposition. Let me make another of my bold predictions: Our next President will be white and at no time during the next 20 years or more will our nation have a Republican as president. The horrible record of Republican presidents has become too obvious: Nixon, Reagan, the Bushes. The left has never created wealth because it has never been interested in creating wealth; it is interested in redistributing wealth. The only thing less legitimate than the election process in this country is the election process in Iraq. There is no democracy in America and despite invasions and instigating overthrowing freely elected governments on 18 separate occasions, we have not exported democracy either. I've heard the audio about four different times.Remember, please, that I defended Rush a couple years ago during that silly "soldier" flap. I don't try to pounce on the guy for no reason.But he said what he said — the debate is the context. Was he talking about leaving the country to live, or just to get different medical care? Personally I doubt that someone of his wealth has any trouble getting decent medical care, as evidenced by his recent episode in Hawaii.However, saying he'd leave for either reason is equally dubious.

If you watch the clip, which agrees with the transcript on Rush Limbaugh.com, he was asked what he would do for health care. If, like in Canada and Briton, it becomes illegal to pay out of pocket of medical expenses, as long as there is no jail time he would pay the fine for not having health insurance. Then, to buy his own health care, he would go to Costa Rica or somewhere where it was legal to buy health care that you choose and not what is allowed and doled out by the Government. It is illegal to pay for your own health care in Canada, and illegal for doctors to accept money from individuals in Canada. That is why so many travel to the United States to not have to wait so long for important health care treatment. Think about it Dave, he never said he was going to move to Costa Rica to live. Winston is just another fractured thinking liberal. He hates everyone and everything. He is far, far, far from the best anything blogger. He rails against "Bush and Reagan and their corporate giveaways" and yet he is mute on Obama's campaign to give away 1/6th of the US economy to medical insurance providers with the insurance mandate. Where is Winston on the GM and Chrysler UAW bailouts that the American taxpayer will never see again? Winston thinks that Reagan and Bush were worse? How is that remotely possible? Obama has whored the American economy out to every special interest group and union that donates money to liberal causes. Obama plays the role of "The John" to the prostitues in the Senate, namely Mary Landreu and Ben Nelson. The hookers in Congress are not limited to those two. Democrat Congressional prostitutes lined up for fedreal "stimulus" dollars like it was Hollywood and Vine. Fact is that most of the so-called "stimulus" dollars went to districts, the ones that actually existed anyway, that voted for Obama. And the "stimulus" failed as represented by the INCREASE in unemployment from 8% to 10% this year. Winston is just angry and scatterbrained. It must be sad to hate so much. Our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves right now as I write.Our Oligarchy, commonly referred to as the Reid-Pelosi Congress, is going to cram through health "reform" through the Senate bill through the House and then "deem" it passed in the Senate. Who in the hell do these people think they are? This is NO WHERE in the Constitution. The process is that first the House votes on spending measures and then it is voted on in the Senate. Because the Democrats are such chickenshits, and they know their bills will not withstand a Republican filibuster, they skirt the Constitution by trying to pass the Senate version. Why did Hamilton and Madison waste all that time, ink and energy by writing the Federalist Paper? Why didn't the Constitutional Convention just "deem" it passed since there were representatives of all 13 colonies? Isn't the Constitution a good for all Americans?The "deeming" rule should be sued in Federal court THE VERY MOMENT the Democrats try this unconstitutional and unethical trick to skirt the written law. The very concept of "deeming" a bill passed negates the very need for the existence of the Senate. Why don't the Democrats just shitcan the Constitution altogether and just adopt the British unicamerial parlimentarian system (the House of Lords is a rubber stamp;of course the Democrats would do without the "vote of no confidence" portion because Obama would lose that in a second). Hell we are already nearly there with 12 of our "candidates" for President coming from either the House or the Senate.You want to talk impeachment? I say that any Senator that supports "deeming" the bill to be passed in the House as already passed the Senate should be impeached.
