Adam Hill Makes His Mark

July 7, 2008, San Luis Obispo: Adam Hill, 3rd District Supervisor-Elect, has selected Carlyn Christianson to serve as his Planning Commissioner.

Ms. Christianson, has been serving as a Planning Commissioner for the city of SLO since 2002. She has served as a board member for the Environmental Defense Center and as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce, and has also served on a wide variety of task forces ranging from housing to health care issues. Additionally, she holds a law degree from Hastings College of the Law of the University of California.

“Carlyn’s experience throughout the community is exceptional and diverse,” commented Hill. “She’s liked and respected by so many people, that it’s a real privilege for me to appoint someone of such quality. She’ll do an excellent job on the Planning Commission.”

Hill continued, “The county has some serious challenges before us that relate to land use—water, infrastructure, reducing greenhouse gases, making smart growth happen. That’s why I wanted to make this decision early, so that Carlyn can make good use of the time before next year’s Planning Commission begins its business.”

Adam Hill will be sworn in as County Supervisor on January 5th, 2009. Ms. Christianson’s nomination must then be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
