Honors for Hometown Radio

We received word that the Texas-based Byrd Foundation for Racial Healing has decided to honor “The Dave Congalton Show” for the multiple segments we’ve done in recent months on racism and prejudice on the Central Coast.

Mardi Hall and I have been invited to receive the award, only one of two that will be given, on Sunday, June 22nd in San Francisco at the 10th Anniversary Tribute to James Byrd, Jr. at Herbst Theatre.

Some of you may recall that James Byrd was the young black man in Jasper, Texas who was beaten by whites and dragged to his death behind a truck in 1998. Hundreds of people, and a gaggle of public figures, are expected to attend the June ceremony to honor his memory.

Mardi and I will be pleased to be among them.
