The $50 Question

OK, here’s what I did today. I went to the Web site for Barack Obama and I made a $50 donation, only the second time I’ve ever donated $$$$ in a presidential campaign.

This is certainly not an endorsement and I fully expect Obama to flame out under the intense media scrutiny that he’s about to receive. But I opted to make a token donation because I want this guy to have a chance and I want to know more about him.

This is what I think. I don’t want anyone named Clinton or Bush in the White House ever again. We’ve had 20 years of these two families. It’s time for new blood.

I once respected John McCain, but it’s hard to maintain that now. He’s sold his soul to the devil. He would say anything, do anything, to be president. Guiliani has been able to coast on 9/11, but people seem to forget how he was stumbling as mayor just prior to that tragedy. The Republican I like is Chuck Hagel, but I don’t know if he’ll run. Hope so.

john Edwards? Please. There’s nobody home there. How about Mrs. Clinton? Well, how about her? I think she took too long to come around on Iraq, a Joannie-come-lately if you will. And I’m not trying to be sexist, but it’s painful to listen to her speeches. She’s not her husband, which is good and bad. I think she’s been an excellent senator and I wish she’d stay there.

Everything I’ve read about Obama says he wants to run a nontraditional campaign. Yep, he’s young and inexperienced, but, hey, George W. Bush had degrees from Yale and Harvard, had a dad who was President, was a governor, and he still ended up being our worst president. So perhaps it’s time to go in the other direction and think outside the box.

The key word is perhaps. Don’t know yet. But I want to give the guy a chance to make his case. $50 sure isn’t going to make him, or break him, but I’d be interested in your reaction.

I agree with you, Obama is my first choice…I think he would be a refreshing break from our current situation. How about Joe Biden’s comments last week about Obama? Poor Joe, really put his foot in his mouth.

I am still not sure about Hillary…I don’t dislike her…and I do like Giuliani…(I am Italian, what can I say??)…

It will be really wonderful to see a new person in the White House…I am tired of looking at someone that has a permenant smirk on his face.

    DAVE, LOOK…
YOU RADICAL LEFTY LIBS KEEP SAYING GEORGE BUSH IS THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER. IF IN FACT HE is EVEN ON THAT LIST, AND IT’S DEBATABLE, HE COULD BE NO HIGHER THAN THIRD! WITH “BUBBA BLOW JOB” AS #1 AND UN-SEATABLE FOR CENTURIES! AND “JIMMY THE PEANUT” IS LOCKED IN AT THE NUMBER 2 SPOT.

AS FOR THE MUSLIM RAISED AND TERRORIST EDUCATED COCAINE SMOKING FILTHY RICH CLEAN AND ARTICULATE B. HUSSEIN OBAMA…THIS GUY IS A FLASH IN THE PAN! The band is playing everywhere, and Republican hearts are light.
And, everywhere conservatives are laughing, as their candidate won with clout!

but there is no joy in liberalville —

CLINTON MAY GET THE NOMINATION BUT WILL NEVER BE ELECTED! MOST OF AMERICA HAS HAD ENOUGH CLINTON BS FOR A LIFETIME.

AS FOR “BORAT HUSSIEN OBAMA”, HE WILL MELT LONG BEFORE THE PROCESS EVEN STARTS! HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE EXCEPT THE TERRORISTS SCHOOLS HE WAS EDUCATED IN…IN THE END HE WILL BE SOFT ON THE RADICAL MUSLIMS, AND AMERICA WILL SEE RIGHT THROUGH HIS MASQUERADE!

EDWARDS WILL FINISH STRONG, BUT YOUR PARTY WILL COME UP WITH THEIR FINAL CANDIDATE ONLY AFTER THE REPUBLICAN FRONT RUNNER IS A LOCK…THEY WILL PICK A CANDIDATE THEY THINK CAN BEAT OURS…WHY? BECAUSE YOUR PARTY HAS NO SOUL…SO THEY WILL RUN THEIR PUPPET IN HOPES OF WINNING.

BUT THEN THAT IS 2 YEARS AWAY. AND OH MY GOSH! IS IT GOING TO BE FUN WATCHING YOUR PARTY SELF DESTRUCT!

Dave, the only Democrat I like in the field so far is Bill Richardson. Bill is the closest thing to a sane Democrat running. He was UN Ambassador and US trade representative, so he has foreign relations experience. He is a governor of a border state where he deployed his National Guard to the border after declaring a state of emergency, so he understands the perils of illegal immigration and should be tough on it. I can forgive the fact that he couldn’t “remember” whether or not he had been drafted by MLB. Of all the things to have faulty memory over, that is nearly non-existant.

    As for the rest:
Joe Biden: a blow hard that loves the sound of his own voice.

Obama: a neophyte that barely has any experience outside of the Illinois statehouse.

John Edwards: I will never support that ambulance chaser. He’s the boob that said that Christopher Reeve woudl walk again if everyone voted for Kerry (don’t even try to dispute it guys; I heard him say those words during the debate).

Chris Dodd: Other than his white hair and that he’s from some state back east, I don’t know anything about him or what he stands for. I’m sure he’ll stand for whatever the Democrat machine needs for him to stand for.

Then there is Hillary: If there is a truely soulless individual in the Democrat Party, it is Hillary. She knows her husband is banging everything with a heartbeat and she doesn’t leave him when ever right-minded woman in America would. Why? She hungers for the power of the presidency more than all of the others combined. I think she would lie about her gender if she thought that would curry favor with some group. She lied about her position on the Iraq War in Iowa just to make people like you, Dave, think that she was always against the war. This is after she “respectfully disagreed” with Code Pink that the war was in fact justified, as it was in Bosnia and Kosovo. She, of all people, cannot claim that she was missled about Iraq when she was co-president for 8 years looking at the same intelligence; none of that changed during the run up to the war. And you are absolutely right Dave, listening to Hillary speak is like nails on a chalkboard. I think that Hillary as the Democrat nominee would be the biggest boost for the “get out the vote” campaign for the Republican Party.

Speaking of the Republicans: I am waiting to hear someone articulate a vision for the future and plan to get us there. Right now, I’m not hearing it from anyone. I like Rudy. He may be too ill-versed in international issues, but so was Bush. I think that Rudy will co-op many Northeast voters for the Republican party, which is good. He is a popular man with tons of positive name recognition with both Dems and reps. The added bonus is that he had an affair as mayor so that will make him even more popular with Democrats.

bottom line: If it was a Guiliani versus Richardson race, I would be satisfied either way.

Frankly, I’m surprised you aren’t railing against the procedural maneuvers of Mitch McConnell to block the Anti-Iraq War resolution, but the day is still young.

I am posting anonymously because I have to protect myself, and my source. Here goes.

There is a group of secret service that protects the President 24/7/365. It’s called the “Circle of 13”. These hand picked 13 agents never leave his side. One of those 13 that worked for Clinton quit his position after 16 years with the Secret Service. Why? Moral reasons. He now works for one of the 5 cities law enforcement agencies.

Here is his story of why he quit.
It policy that when a President travels that they take an entire floor and the entire floor above and below where the President sleeps. He had elevator duty on many of those occasions with Clinton.

All night long up and down the elevator went a stream of “women of ill repute”. As was standard for the Clintons he stayed at one end of that floor of rooms and Hillary stayed at the other. When these “women” reached the Presidents floor (with clearance I might add) some turned left to go visit Bill…and some turned right to go visit Hillary. Each banging away in full view of those that could go to prison for revealing this mess.

Hillary has been a lesbian for most of her married life as a result of Bill’s infidelity.

It is also fact through the freedom of information act that Donna Shalala (she served as Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Health and Human Services.) spent 257 nights out of 365 in the white house when she had an apartment 11 miles away.

It’s also known fact that Bill & Hillary never slept in the same bedroom. Hillary was having an affair with Donna Shalala and not a soul could breathe a word!

You should all know this. Doubt it if you will, that’s fine. But 4 more years of those clowns in the white house will be the end to the America we all once knew and loved.

Don’t shoot the messenger! Doubt or disbelieve but this info came right from the horses mouth.

Bill & Hillary are biggest scam ever perpetrated on the American people and the political process in our nations history.

Those that knew, and many did, could only impeach him for lying. But the main reasons for the impeachment went much, much deeper.

Reagan, after all, was one of the worst fathers to ever occupy the White House, but many of you think he was one of our greatest presidents.

Dave…in answer to your question…when you have “secrets” or vulnerable baggage like Hillary, it is MOST CERTAINLY a National security issue. We don’t need our President in a situation of being blackmailed etc. IF she wants to “come out”….and be honest about her past & present, then let the voters decide. As it stands, she’s being less than honest with us about something that WOULD possibly interfere with National security. Of course this depends on whether this “rumor” is true. As for me…no matter what she does….I am more than tired of the CLintons…and it seems even so is Hollywood!

Dave, the only concern I have with what annonymous said is not with the sexual orientation of either Bill or Hillary, it would be with the capricious lack of regard they have with their own safety and security to allow prostitutes (or anyone else for that matter) that level of access. Additionally, I take issue with our taxpaying dollars being used to secure a brothel wherever they stayed. This, of course, is predicated that any of what anonymous saying is true. So, that is where I stand on this hypothetical situation. As for Hillary’s orientation, my personal homosexual conduct policy is “won’t ask, don’t care, don’t flaunt”. In other words, I won’t ask because I really don’t care, but if you are, don’t flaunt it in my face. I think we all can agree on that whether it is homo or hetrosexual behavior.

  13. Marilyn
    February 7, 2007 at 4:28 am

Most presidents have committed one form of indiscretion or another, but there are very few who have single-handedly set the standard backwards for human rights, the environment, and life in general. Yes, there are many presidents who had sexual indiscretions, but I would take that any time over alienating the whole world and leading us down a path into a dismal future for all mankind.

Bush, in my opinion, is a candidate for prosecution for crimes against humanity at this point in time. There are rumors about extramarital relationships and trouble in the Bush household. His behavior also indicates that whatever addictions he had are still there.

By the way, once an addict, always an addict. A person with an ounce of decency in them would not run for the highest office in the country in the first place when they have problems with addiction.

The PAST and YOUTHFUL indiscretions of Obama pale when compared with the shenanigans of Bush who can neither spell, nor pronounce, and whose knowledge of history and the world is below first grade level.

He is nothing but a prop for the system he represents, a system cloaked in the shroud of democracy while stuffed with delusions of grandeur and the desire to RULE the world.

I will give Obama a chance but, as I said before, the Democrat-Republican formula is obsolete where the lives of average Americans are concerned.

Most people in the United States are neither, although they may vote for one or the other.

Dave said “Reagan, after all, was one of the worst fathers to ever occupy the White House, but many of you think he was one of our greatest presidents.”

Parenting is complex, and since you haven’t walked those shoes, perhaps you should not cast that stone.

As you know, being a “good son” is also complex. So perhaps we should not cast stones here Dave.

Besides, Clinton’s role as a Father wasn’t in any respect admirable. I still remember seeing the photos of Chelsea having to deal with the fallout of her Father’s infamous infidelities. I am sure this gave her great pain……and THIS was better parenting???

Reagan as a father is relevant because of the constant Republican harping over “family values” and Reagan was their poster child. To me, it just underscored their hypocrisy.

Same thing with W. He takes the moral high ground and the Republicans are already attacking Obama for TRYING cocaine as a young man. But Bush won’t fess up — he just says those five years from 1970 to 75 is private and off the record.

    Oh…so CLINTON’s bad parenting doesn’t count!

Very typical of the liberal mind!!

I think Dave’s point was that Ronald Reagan was supposedly viewed as a “paragon” of virtue, a representative of “family values”, which since President Reagan was mostly estranged from his grown children during his term in office could be hypocritical. President Clinton, on the other hand, was never looked up to as any sort of paragon of virtue, and he never claimed to have lock as a representative of “family values”. How is that hypocritical?
Ronald Reagan’s “legacy”: Deficit spending, which bankrupted our national treasury. The introduction of crack cocaine to the US through the CIA’s connections (part of the Iran-Contra affair), which together with new laws as part of his “War on Drugs” resulted in the highest incarceration rate of young black males in our nation’s history. Assaulting the unions of America, which has led to a lower standard of living of millions of Americans since then. Do you not remember that the 1980s were labeled as “the Me Decade”? During the Reagan’s terms, the ration of CEO pay over rank & file employees went from 20 to 1, 50 to 1, or 100 to 1, to what we have now where some CEOs pay is 1000 times greater than the average worker.
To anyone who says that it doesn’t matter who gets elected (or selected) as the President, we are still paying for the Reagan legacy, 19 to 27 years later.
As for Senator Obama: America could do much worse in a President (like the last six years). He is young (vital), doesn’t have a lot of experience(that’s worked well for Bush, right?), he is an excellent speaker (articulate), intelligent (meaning he is a fast learner), but the question remains, is America ready to elect a black President? I for one say yes, not because he is black, not in spite of him being black, but because he can be the right man for the job. Let’s see how the primary campaign season shakes out.
As for John Edwards: There is something there regardless of what Dave says, look at his health care proposal, at least he has something that will work.
HILLARY CLINTON IS A LESBIAN! Jeez, grow up.

Bob, I just can’t believe you believe what you do. Your assessment of Reagan is built on lies and misrepresentations. First of all, the San Jose Mercury article that started the whole “CIA spread crack” myth is the biggest urban legend ever to be reported in the MSM. That story has long since been proven to be, at best bunk, at worst, a vicious set of lies. But I know who I am talking to. The lack of evidence proving your conspiracy is evidence of how thoroughly the story has been suppressed and therefore is proof of a conspiracy. Secondly, deficits and the debt did balloon during the Reagan years because the DEMOCRAT controlled House and Senate refused to pass the budget control measures that Reagan tried to get through. Beyond that, let’s assume that there were NO spending measures in the Reagan budgets, it is still the House of Representatives where all spending bills start. Therefore, Tip O’Neil is the real culprit in the deficits because there was no fiscal discipline in Congress while the DEMOCRATS were in control. I fully expect that Dave will reply “nice try, Rich, but…” totally ignoring the body-slam points I am making here.
You talk about the “Me Generation”. More lies and distortions and revisionist history. You totally ignore the bogus “Dot Com” boom of the 90’s where fictional companies providing no real assets or valuation created a Recession that Bush inherited when all of the advertising dollars for these bogus companies dried up. Clinton papered over this problem by refinancing to the lower interest rate short-term bonds instead of going the higher interest long-bonds to lock to fix the rate over time. Also, all of your corporate malfeasance issues started under Clinton. Keep in mind that the Global Crossing, Enron, Adelphia, and all of the other CEO corruption cases were prosecuted in with the Bush Justice Department. So, all of your blather about CEO pay increases over the working stiff and whatnot happened under the Clinton Adminstration, more so than the Reagan Administration. Finally, if you want to sling mud at Reagan, your real target should have been the S and L scandal and the Keating 5 (of which McCain was a member) and the Abscam case that Murtha was also a member.

    So there you go.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews ran afoul of censors by using “the f-word” during a Wednesday appearance on the ‘Imus in the Morning’ show.

Matthews, the fast-talking and brash host of the popular MSNBC show “Hardball,” was praising former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani’s 2008 candidacy when he went on a rant about “city guys” like Giuliani versus the “southerners,” such as President George W. Bush, who run for national office.

Matthews: “We love good mayors because we love our cities and Giuliani is a city guy . . . I’m so sick of Southern guys with ranches running this country. I want a guy to run for president who doesn’t have a f***ing ranch . . .”

Imus: “Did we bleep that out of there? . . . What were you swearing for?”

FACTS DON’T LIE! DEAL WITH IT!

IF YOU CONSIDER THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN AVERAGE OF 160,000 TROOPS IN THE IRAQ THEATRE OF OPERATIONS DURING THE LAST 32 MONTHS, AND A TOTAL OF 2,912 DEATHS, THAT GIVES A FIREARM DEATH RATE OF 55 PER 100,000 SOLDIERS.

THE FIREARM DEATH RATE IN WASHINGTON D.C. IS 80.6 PER 100,000 FOR THE SAME PERIOD.

THAT MEANS THAT YOU ARE ABOUT 25% MORE LIKELY TO BE SHOT AND KILLED IN THE U.S. CAPITOL, WHICH HAS THE STRICTEST GUN CONTROL LAWS IN THE NATION, THAN YOU ARE IN IRAQ.

    CONCLUSION:

THE PLANE SHE HAS “DEMANDED” HAS 40+ BUSINESS CLASS SEATS, A PRIVATE BEDROOM AND A CREW OF 16!

Jerry: Pull your head out of your nether regions, please. The second person in the line of Presidential succession should not be flying commercial airlines, period. Is it possible that somewhere deep in the bowels of the Pentagon, Donald Rumsfeld is cackling to himself for suggesting that the Pentagon release the request that the Sargent-At-Arms of Congress made for Speaker Pelosi for an aircraft that could fly non-stop from Washington D.C. to California? Why is the amount of dollars proposed for this plane such a big problem, when the President and the Vice-President travel so much, at a much higher cost than the proposed plane for Speaker Pelosi? Where was the outrage by Rush, Sean and Fox News when the President flew from Crawford to Washington to sign the emergency law for Terry Shiavo? How much did that trip cost? This really is a non-issue; a diversion away from important news, like the further trouble in Iraq, the Scooter Libbey trial (trouble ahead for VP Cheney?), more Republican Senators ready to denounce the Bush escalation plan for Iraq …..

BOB? IS THIS THE KIND OF THING WE SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT?

A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED

This is for all the kids born in the 70’s who do not remember, and didn’t have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older
brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the ” 100 Women of the Century.”

    BY BARBRA WALTERS

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms.Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country,
but specific men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam .

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot

The pilot’s name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat.

In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison the “Hanoi Hilton.”

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ’s, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American
“Peace Activist” the “lenient and humane treatment” he’d received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away.
During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp Commandant ‘s feet, which
    sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his
flying career) from the ommandant’s frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E’s). He spent 6 years in the “Hanoi Hilton”…the first three of which his family only knew he was “missing in action”.
His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and
    clothed routine in preparation for
    a “peace delegation” visit.
They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive
and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number
on it, in the palm of his hand.

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a
cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man’s hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: “Aren’t you sorry you bombed
babies?” and “Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?”
Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat. At the
end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs,
she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper.

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam , and was captured by the North
Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.

I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia ; and one year
in a “black box” in Hanoi .
My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South
Vietnam , whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border.
At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs.(My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda’s “war criminals.”

When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi , I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would
be willing to meet with her.

I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received… and how
different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as
    “humane and lenient.”

Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched
with a large steel weights placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV.
    She never did answer me.

These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of “100 Years of Great Women.” Lest we forget…” 100 Years of Great Women” should never include a traitor whose hands are
covered with the blood of so many patriots.

THERE ARE FEW THINGS I HAVE STRONG VISCERAL REACTIONS TO, BUT HANOI JANE’S PARTICIPATION IN BLATANT TREASON IS ONE OF THEM.

HOW’S THAT BOB? DID I DO OK?

JerryD: Nice try. Now, look at the facts, and you can see the debunking of what you just posted. You truly are pathetic. What Jane Fonda did in Vietnam was wrong, and she did apologize for her actions publicly. Read the link. Do you have to try to be idiotic, or does it come naturally?

    BOB,
THANKS FOR THE LINK , I Did read it and quote here some excerpts.

AS USUAL I STAND BY ORIGINAL POST THAT JANE FONDA IS A TREASONOUS GUTLESS COWARD! SHE SHOULD BE IN JAIL FOR LIFE!

I QUOTE IN PART FROM YOUR LINK!

“There’s no disputing that Jane Fonda toured North Vietnam, propagandized on behalf of the communists, and participated in an orchestrated “press conference” with American POWs in 1972. There’s no denying that she defamed POWs by whitewashing the Viet Cong’s treatment of them and later calling them liars when they spoke out.

One of the claims was that POWs were beaten for refusing to cooperate or meet with Fonda during her visit.

    Status: TRUE.
The final anecdote in the “Hanoi Jane” email recounts the experience of a POW who agreed to meet with Fonda but announced to his captors that he planned on telling her how horrid conditions in North Vietnamese prison camps really were.”

“Because of this,” the narrative continues, “I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees with outstretched arms with a piece of steel placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane every time my arms dipped.”

“Those words were written by Michael Benge, a civilian advisor captured by the Viet Cong in 1968 and held as a POW for 5 years. When I contacted him, Benge confirmed that the story was indeed his own, and true.”
