The Haggard Hypocrite

Something snapped inside of me when I first heard about the most Rev. Ted Haggard of Colorado Springs, the fervent anti-gay minister who now turns out has been involved in gay sex for at least three years (despite being married and father of five). I couldn’t resist picking up the phone and bringing Santa Maria Bill into the studio Friday night to discuss this issue. One caller took us to task — “a low point in the history of the show,” he claimed. These were only allegations. Nothing has been proven. Blah, blah, blah.

Well, that was Friday night and here it is, Sunday night. What a difference a weekend can make. The guy has been bounced from his church and his national organization. We know now that there is a lot of truth to the allegations. Rev. Haggard is a hypocrite with a capital H.

And I’m and so frigging tired of these uppity-moral-holier-than-thou-right-wing-evangelical types talking the talk, but clearly not walking the walk. Whether it’s Rev. Haggard with gay sex or Jimmy Swaggart with a prostitute or Bill Bennett and his $8 million gambling debt — it happens time and time again with our conservative Republican friends.

It’s not a Democratic issue, though the Left has been through the gutter with the likes of Jesse Jackson and Ted Kennedy. The difference is that the Left stays out of the bedroom and doesn’t try to play the Moral Police so they escape the hypocrisy tag that seems to haunt the Republicans.

Move over, Mark Foley. Make room for another Republican hypocrite in rehab.

WOW! MAYBE WE SOULD ALL JOIN THE CHURCH OF SECULAR PROGRESSIVISM AND SHOOT TO KILL ALL LIARS IN POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY…AFTER THE SMOKE CLEARS I WILL STAKE MY NEST EGG THAT THERE WILL BE TRIPPLE THE NUMBER OF TRADITIONAL WARRIORS STANDING IN A PUDDLE OF LIBERAL BLOOD. SURE, WE MAY LOSE A FEW…BUT NO WHERE CLOSE TO THE NUMBER OF LYING LIBERALS.

But Jerry, you’re missing the point. Conservative Republicans are consistently hypocritical on the issues of moral values. They demand a level that they themselves are not willing to meet. It happens time and time again.

So let’s just get the government out of the values business. Leave it to family and church or whomever to police. Let adults be adults.

    Well said Dave.

If you’re going to talk the talk (be the voice of the “moral majority”) then you’d better be walking the walk.

Dave, for every example of a religious right hypocrit, Jerry could give you a liberal hypocrit. What rankles the liberals is that conservatives in general actually stake a claim at having a balck and white moral position. Liberals, to my knowledge, have never always been “open minded” about everything. This gives liberals the cover that they are never against anything, except Conservatives and Republicans and “religious types” (i.e. christian based religions and Israeli Jews). When liberals get challenged on a moral issue, they hide behind moral relativism. So no one on the left cares that Nancy Pelosi is marching with a founder/supporter of the North American Man-Boy Love Association, while conservatives are outraged that the self-professed “first woman Speaker of the House” is marching shoulder to shoulder with a self-admitted child rapist. The left is outraged, by contrast, with Mark Foley because he is in a party that doesn’t condone that behavior and speaks out against it, thus the hypocracy.

As for Haggard, who really gives a shit? The guy got caught, he’s disgraced, and he’s resigned. So what he talked to the White House? Hundreds of worse people slept in the White House during Clinton’s Administration. So, mission accomplished: another gay hypocrit Republican outed and destroyed, right Dave?

WE ALL NEED TO STICK TO THE MORAL EXAMPLES OF OUR BELOVED POLITICAL LEADERS…LIKE “SLICK WILLY” BILL CLITTON!

HAGGARD SHOULD HAVE JUST STUCK TO BJ’S IN HIS OFFICE WITH A YOUNG FEMALE EMPLOYEE…THEN ALL WOULD BE WELL IN DAVE’S AMERICA!

THIS ATTACK IS BLOWN WAY OUT OF PROPORTION…BUT THEN WE MUST DEFINE WHAT THE MEANING OF IS IS…

“is that conservatives in general actually stake a claim at having a balck and white moral position.”

See that’s the problem believing everthing, or most everything, is a black and white moral position. It’s not just in case you’re wondering.

HEY JERRY!. Here are some questions for you.

Should abortion be illegal?. Actually I know your answer but I want to hear it again.

What about birth control. Should married couples use birth control. I won’t even ask if you believe it is a sin for unmarried couples to have sex. Although what do you think about sex taking place between unmarried adults.

Do you follow all of the teachings and principles in Leviticus from the Old Testament.

Rich, What are you talking about? “Liberals are’nt against anything.” The only part of his story I don’t have a problem with is his sexual orientation. Every ‘liberal’ I know has serious problems with breaking a promise by cheating on a spouse, breaking the law by engaging in prostitution, buying and taking Meth. But for me, the worst part is knowing how he would stand in his position as God’s man and hammer people who were doing the EXACT same thing he was. Make them feel like crap and use their guilt to keep the $$ flowing.

He’s a hypocrit who only stepped down because he got caught. Why defend him by saying the ‘other’ side is just as bad?

Wow! a liberal that is not a moral relativist! Well, welcome to the club. I don’t like cheating, lying meth using hypocits either, but the “Reverend” Haggard is no more a representative sample of true conservatives than Dave is.

Dave, Dave, Dave, you ignorent slut. Do you have a problem with something being wrong or just somebody saying it’s wrong? If Haggard was being true to his faith, he didn’t have any choice but to say that homosexuality is immoral. He was found out and now he is paying the price. I went to the New Life Church web site to see what else they did (if anything) besides preach hatred angainst the demon homosexuals.here’s a list of what I found-

    Homeless ministries
    Grief counciling
    Crisis pregnancy ministries
    Hospital visitation
    Crisis counciling
    Recovery groups
    Meal ministries
    Business Fundamentals Training
    Senior ministries
Mission trips to orphanges and childrens homes
    Street ministries

    Those hypocritical bastards!
As far as I know Haggard hasn’t changed his tune about homosexuality being a sin, and even if he did, it wouldn’t matter. That is what the Bible teaches and our opinions about it don’t matter. Something else that the Bible doesn’t teach is that christians are good and everybody else is bad, so you can take your “holier-than-thou” crap and sit and spin. Why don’t you have your buddy Doug explain the gospel to you, he’s a pastor.
Until then, maybe you should stick to shows about food and entertainment. You are a world class Putz.
