Billy for Mayor?

Well, we know a few things about the upcoming SLO mayoral race: Dave Romero is definitely running for re-election and John Ewan is definitely going to challenge him. Tough race. We also know a few on the far left are unhappy with Ewan because of his support for Dalidio Ranch and are desperately seeking a third candidate. So far, Christine Mullholland and theater owner Jim Dee have both declined to run.

So how about Billy? Billy Foppiano.

Yeah, that guy, the singer. The guy with the Mighty Croon Dogs. Why doesn’t Billy throw his guitar in the ring and liven things up.

Don’t laugh. Look to Texas, who may just be getting ready to elect Kinky Friedman of Kinky Friedman and the texas Jew Boys as their next governor. The musician is drawing wide appeal in Texas because he’s cutting the B.S. and running a smart, populist campaign.

So why not Billy? He’s smart,. He’s passionate. And he’s really PISSED about what’s happening to downtown SLO. He was on my show Monday, holding forth on what’s happening to the town he loves.

C’mon, Billy, liven things up. Run for mayor and hold Dave and John accountable on the key issues. You could easily get a song, or two out of this one.
