Phil Hendrie Retires from Radio

The Premiere Radio Networks’ syndicated host announced today that he will retire from his daily nationally syndicated radio show to pursue his acting career. The final live broadcast of The Phil Hendrie Show will take place on June 23.

“I have taken my show as far as I can in the present climate of terrestrial radio,” said Hendrie about his pending departure. “I’ve been doing these characters for 16 years, and I believe it’s time for me to take them from behind the microphone and present them in front of the camera.”

Hendrie is currently featured on NBC-TV’s sitcom Teachers as cynical history teacher Dick Green. He has also appeared as Judge McCarthy on the sitcom A.U.S.A. and made his motion picture debut in 2004 in Trey Parker’s and Matt Stone’s Team America: World Police as the voice of I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E. and a terrorist character. In addition, Hendrie has performed numerous character voices on episodes of the animated television shows King of the Hill and Futurama.

One less reason to listen to KVEC.

    You’ll be missed, Phil!

I first heard Hendrie’s show while living in the Chicago area. This was about six or seven years ago. His show didn’t last long in that market (probably less than a year). And to be honest, it was no surprise. I rarely found any of his stuff to be entertaining. But, anyway. Good luck to him on his future endeavours. Any chance that KVEC will fill his spot with a program of local interest?

Like who cares. Before KVEC started carrying his program I’d never heard of him and after listening to his program I don’t care if I ever hear him again.

Fill Henry is one of my favorite people. He and Dave Kongleton have some great guests, some of them the same.

Remember the lady that told us about the airplanes spraying us with “something”. Oh, then there was the guy from Arizona that told us about the white plane that flew six feet from the top of the Penn. trees to check and make sure all were dead on flight 93, and lastly you have the two peace pipe activists on Thursday, one of which said when Dave asked how far he was willing to go to save Uganda “……………Uh………………………Uh…………………all…..the way, um, yeah……………I am prepared to go all the way ….[to get some weed]” Ahhh, I wonder if they lit up a little medically necessary weed during the program. Dave seemed to think some dumb jokes were funny that were not at all…..even Pastor Doug was not laughing and that is bad of you laugh and Doug is groaning.

The point is, althought hilarious…we will miss “Fill” Hendrie but we still have Dave when his guests can be just as funny. Almost forgot the woman from Cayucos that went off on Dave….very Hendriesque. :-0

To all illegal immigrants: Have a great May Day on Monday. We will miss all of your help.

To all Illegal School Age youngsters: Have a great day skipping your free school that I pay for and don’t worry about learning so you can grow up to be a great dishwasher at Buena Tavola since I don’t see that many hispanic wait staff there. I won’t visit there on Monday since they are closed Monday. Maybe they can just stay closed since or lower their prices since they have so many low paid immigrants that work there.

    newt one –
why so sour? Don’t you realize how lucky all of us are to have a local talk radio voice that allows ANYONE to have a voice in their community – maybe even someone as cynical as you! Try listening to talk radio in virtually any other market, and try having some ability to affect that – either by calling or being a guest.

It’s so much easier to knock something down than to build it up.

I will truly miss Phil Hendrie. What an original talent, and what a unique concept for a show. I just wish I would’ve gotten Bobbie Dooley’s phone number.

I am not against Fill or Dave, they are both entertaining to listen to. I am having fun laughing at some of dAVE’S guests and comparing them to Fill’s.

I am going to miss Phil too. I heard him on KFI
before we got him up here. I only saw that “Teachers” program once and it wasn’t that good. I think he is making a mistake. His feelings were hurt when they moved his program from KFI to an all sports station.

You should have heard how upset Bill Handel became after Phil sat in for him while Bill was on vacation. Phil started a rumor about Bill’s misappropriating of funds. Bill was livid because Bill’s friends didn’t know that Phil was doing his routine.
