Jerk! Full of Hate! Local Loud Mouth!

I thought I’d share this posting with you. Some listener named SLO Rebel posted this on the conservative Free Republic web site. This is what he has to say about me and The Big Broadcast:

“This guy is a local jerk in San Luis Obispo county that defends his ideas by inviting local conservatives on his radio program then burning them with leftist propaganda. He presents himself as a moderate, but he is always on the side agianst common sense. He is full of hate and shouts down guest with opposing views. It wouldn’t be so bad but he is the only local radio personality. Our county is 60% conservative, yet this local loud mouth ridicules conservative values.”

Jerk. Full of hate. Local loud mouth. That’s me, according to SLO Rebel. This is pretty typical of some of the angry email I get.

Agree or disagree, go ahead and comment!

Meanwhile, on Monday, at 5:05, we’ll take the issue of the California exit exam. Also looking forward to the discussion on Tuesday about whether or not we need to set up a Business Improvement District. Ron Yukelson from Sierra Vista Medical Center wants to know how good (or bad) a job SVMC is doing serving the community. We’ll discuss that on Thursday. What’s your favorite web site? Hillary Grant and I will ask that question on Friday. Also on Friday, county planning commissioner Sarah Christie defends her recent challenges to PG&E and Diablo Canyon. Should be an interesting week! Join us for Hometown Radio and have a great weekend!

Dave, you big meanie. I mean, come on, how can you be so rude after your station broadcasts 3 hours of Rush, and then 3 hours of Hannity. As far as San Luis Obispo being “mostly conservative”, I guess there’s more than one meaning for being called whine country. As to your supposed ridiculing conservative values, I have heard you ridicule the Bush misAdministration and the corrupt Republican leadership of Congress, so if ridiculing them means you are ridiculing “conservative values”, so be it. As for burning your conservative guests with leftist propaganda, perhaps SLO Rebel can’t distinguish between what he calls “leftist propaganda and those pesky stubborn little nuggets called facts. Keep it up, Dave; you’ll know you don’t matter when nobody complains.

Ok, so “SLO Rebel” is a dufus. Anyone with half a brain knows a few things:

    1. Congalton plays both sides. I don’t know Dave personally, but have been a long time listener, and get the impression he’s a fairly bright fellow who can think for himself. Calling him liberal or conservative misses the point of his radio mission.

    2. Being controversial and covering both sides of the arguments is good because it is fair, and it’s good because it draws in more listeners.

    3. Not all conservatives (not even all Freepers) are dufuses. Heck, most of us arn’t even outspoken callers to talk radio shows. We’re just the ones voting bob’s favorite candidates out of office while his head spins and he wonders what happened. 🙂

Kirk: My head doesn’t spin because my favorite candidates are voted out of office; Governor Davis was the only politician voted “out” of office in a long time, and he certainly was not a favorite of mine. As for my head spinning about that election, the recall vote was an inappropriate vehicle to remove a sitting Governor who was not guilty of a crime nor was he mentally incompetent. Gov. Davis may have been ineffectual, distant and out of touch, money grubbing when it came to political donations, but the recall vote was not the best use of our election process. As for the two Republicans representing us in Sacramento, Sam Blakeslee is by all accounts doing a fine job for us here in SLO County, but Able Maldonado, does he even occupy his office in Sacramento? I haven’t read or heard too much about him except for his announcement to seek higher office.
I would think that most in our county don’t equate the corruption among the Republican leadership in Washington with our local politicians (rightfully so I might add) and I think that most of California’s in- state politicians are mostly scandal free, no matter what their party affiliation is. There must be something in the water or air in D.C., like the smell of money perhaps?

I like Dave, too, but I’ve noticed over the years that he’s quick to challenge conservative guests, but he tends to give livs like Martinez and Capps a free pass. I wish he’d challenge them more.

Good show, overall, though. We need more local radio. Whatever happened to Benika (sp?)

Hey!. See, my emails are nice and I’m not an angry man. That’s an inside joke for those of you reading the comments.

SLO Rebel did a great job getting under our skin. In doing so, he is enlivening this blog the same way that Dave energizes his own show. I just hope SLO Rebel is doing this ON PURPOSE. Otherwise he is something akin to an authentic caller on the Phil Hendry show.

Conservatives take note: Dave and Tom draw an audience that attract the sponsors that help pay for your daily dose of syndicated RusHanitization. Thank em.

Dave, your such a tree hugger and the biggest liberal in the county.
Thank God. After six hours of the sick, brain washing, spin doctor, democrat bashing, Rush and Sean broadcast to us SLO folks for half the day, you are a breath of fresh air

Could be a sign that I’m more “mature” now that I’m 59, but I’ve stopped enduring the hours of sick, right-wing brainwashing.

Stopped cold. Wow. What a relief. If I’m going to put any sounds inside my head, it’s the voice of reason, Dave Congalton.

Super geek: Bill Benica is preparing to do his “Talk Is Cheap” show on the Internet! It will be a race between the Clear Channel $$ and little ol’ independent Bill.

The truth is still out there. Find it!

Jerk? Full of Hate? Local Loud Mouth? Dave, was this written by the homophobic fellow from Arroyo
Grande a few weeks ago. That guy
was just as “out of touch with reality” as this person is!

In my opinion, you are exactly the
    opposite of the above descriptions.
